Thankful. Thankful comes in all different shapes and sizes. Sometimes Thankful is small and overlooked (and hardly thanked) ~ A hot cup of coffee, pizza, sweater weather, good hair days. Sometimes Thankful is grand and showy ~ a shiny new car, the vacation that involves a plane. Sometimes Thankful is sugary and sentimental ~ the kindness of a stranger, peace and calm in your family, friends who love you like family. And then, sometimes, Thankful is just plain odd. And hard to explain. Or believe.
I am thankful for my cancer. I know that sounds weird, but I am. I am thankful that
* Cancer has given me a solitude with Jesus I have never known.
* Cancer has made me braver.
* Cancer has given me the chance to start over fresh in some areas of my life.
Cancer has also given me: hairless legs (seriously, such a bonus), super smooth skin (who needs a chemical peel when you have chemo), a much needed tummy tuck (the fat has just been shifted north), and new more tender stomach (my mom always said I ate like a boy).
I believe God and his promises. And he promises that if you love him all the things in your life (crap included) will work together for good...and for HIS purpose. There's the catch. Apparently, my cancer is for my good and for His purpose. His purpose is always about glorifying Him, wooing people to Him, honoring Him. If you believe this and start viewing your world this way you suddenly see so much more in your world that is good.
Have you allowed the yucky stuff in your life to be used for good? Are you using the yuck stuff in your life to woo people to Jesus?
Happy Thanksgiving y'all
